I had never heard the word “CrossFit” when I accidentally walked into a newly opened CrossFit gym while looking for a place that might rescue me from my emerging health issues. Fast forward over 12 years and I’m still loving every minute of it. In the meantime, I became an athlete. I started running 5k’s and I eventually won most of them in my age group. I bought a bicycle and 3 months later I participated in a 186-mile ride from Houston to Austin along with 13,000 other cyclists. I began entering regional CrossFit competitions. I placed in a few; I won one and I got kicked in the dirt in many other competitions. I’ve competed in the CrossFit Open many times. I placed 129th, 96th and 88th in the world in my age group and finished as high as 58th worldwide in the Masters On-Line Qualifier.
I was so amazed at what CrossFit, along with a super nutrition plan had done for my health and fitness that I wanted to share this with others. So, I started coaching. I (unofficially) coached the competition team at my original gym. Later, I received my Level 1 certificate, and my coaching career became official. That was over 8 years ago. I love coaching and I love serving others. I love helping others transform their health and fitness. I enjoy watching an athlete gain new confidence in themselves when they do things they’ve never done before. I coach my fiancé in powerlifting. She holds 13 records in Alabama.
One of the things I look most forward to is the time I get to spend at CrossFit Perseverance. Our members are super, our owner’s approach everything with such passion and the coaching team is the absolute best.
